Hello, there! My name is Shannon, and I have been the owner of Old Urban Trolley for twelve incredible years! I cannot believe that I purchased this company – kind of on a prayer – that long ago. Feels like yesterday!
I can’t say that I necessarily grew up dreaming of working in transportation, but here I am (and it has become so much more than that)! In the beginning, it was an exciting avenue out of my cushy 9-5 job in the financial industry that I truly wasn’t enjoying. The hours were crazy and I was a single mom to my three boys. I needed more time and financial freedom, and this whirlwind of an opportunity fell into my lap!
Before I became owner, a few of my friends purchased the trolley company. They knew how I was feeling in my role and kept telling me, “Shannon, you need this business!” I was like, “You all are CRAZY! I need that guaranteed paycheck, PTO, vacation pay – I am good!” But, they knew. God knew. Deep down, even I knew. I spent about a year behind-the-scenes learning more about the transportation industry in Tulsa, and finally took the leap. I decided that I would apply for financing, and that if it was meant to be, it would happen! I guess it was, because it did, and here I am – happy as can be. I officially purchased Old Urban Trolley in August of 2007 with two units – “Huggie Bell” and “Betsy.” Oh, the memories I have from my first year in business – ha! Now, the fleet consists of the twins – “Harlee” and “Charlee,” “Miss Lucy,” “Okie Dokie,” and the “JOYJOY” bus. Every unit is named after someone or something special in my life – so it’s safe to say there’s a lot of heart in this business!A few fun facts about me:
I am a mother to three boys who have all blessed me with sweet grands! I spend as much time as I can making memories with them.
I love to travel! The trolley life is busy, but I make sure to travel a couple of times per year.
I am a Believer and attend Foundation Church in Sapulpa, where I live with my honey, Charles, and our 100 lb. lapdog, JOYJOY.
I am an only child, raised by my father, Harley Terry, so I chose to hyphenate my name! My full name is Shannon Terry-Dotson.
Thank you Tulsa for these twelve years. I hope to continue to make memories with you for at least a few more!
